There are a number of areas I wish I had the opportunity to explore with Audere, that I was ultimately unable to do so due to time constraints.
Period Poverty Charity
The first of these was a social campaign element based around period poverty. Period poverty is defined as something that “affects women, girls and people who menstruate all over the world. Access to menstrual products, safe, hygienic spaces in which to use them, and the right to manage menstruation without shame or stigma, is essential for anyone who menstruates.” (Action Aid, 2023)
As Audere is a female focused brand, it felt relevant to try and help a social issue that affects women (and menstruating people in general) gain access to the bare minimum of needs.
The issue I ran into when trying to implement this social issue in the advertising was it became difficult to tie the idea between Audere and period poverty together in a way that didn’t seem somewhat disingenuous.
The core theming that I tried to make work was along the lines of “At Audere, we dare all day. Unfortunately, it isn’t as easy for some to do so due to the lack of basic health products that should be a right for all. A percentage of each sale will be donated towards charities that help women achieve the bare minimum.”
A potential slogan for this campaign was, “At Audere we want to end period poverty. Full stop.” Using the dual meaning of the word period as a focus point.
Retexturing the can renders.
When the can textures where initially designed the text stood out quite clearly on a 2D plane. However, when the metalness was applied in Maya, the metallic sheen made the text slightly less legible in the final renders, but again, due to time constraints, I was unable to go back to the start of the design document and change the colours for everything.
Animated video advert
One of the initial ideas was to incorporate a dance animation, but for this approach to work it would have required me to hand draw over 300 frames of animation in After Effects and I quickly realised the logistical nightmare that would have presented.
