3: Aerial storyboards

Using stills from the movie as a frame of reference, I listed the most important hero assets to create for the scene. I outlined a basic plan using an aerial view of the environment. This was considerably simpler to create than a story sphere as the animation has enough visual representation already to refer to.

These images show light sources and how the environment changes throughout and where the audience should be looking. These prompts are led by the audio queues signified by the green icon.

The animation starts looking straight at the tape recorder that begins to play the audio that raises the “evil dead”. The Necromonicon comes to life and spins in the air. This helps reinforce “haunted” things are happening and to not expect the normal laws of the world to apply.
As the recording plays, the first door to the left slams shut.
This is swiftly followed by the second door slamming shut. The audio and visuals are training the audience to turn to the left.
The final door slams shut behind the veiwer, this has made them turn 180 degrees from their origin point.
The general lighting in the scene darkens, pushing the audience to look for light. A burst of lightning outside illuminates the kitchen with a low roar of thunder. At this stage, if the viewer hasn’t turned around of their own volition, the corner that they just turned by will be lit up with a skeleton’s shadow, encouraging them to turn to the origin point of the sound.

The left audio channel starts to play the sound of chains rattling with a voice echoing from the depths below. A red light is cast from within.
The deer head comes to life on the wall and a nearby rocking chair starts to move in tandem with its laughter.
Blood rises from the floor and the audience has free reign to look anywhere as furniture begins to float towards them and the Necromonicon flies into the shelf.
