This is the outline and storyboards for Isolation.
December 31st
Sarah storms out of the door cursing at Jim as he stands helplessly watching her leave. The title of the short is on the wall between the door and window and disappears as the text is passed by Sarah. An audible argument is heard prior to the door opening and muffled until the door is opened as she speaks her final words
“Don’t worry about it, I’m gone. Happy new year”.
Inside the house we see various items that show this was a house a couple lived in together.
Jim’s phone pings with a “Your year recapped in photos message” as Jim scrolls through and sees various photos of him and Sarah punctuating his isolation. (Scroll images in time with finger swipe)
Cans and bottles are on the floor, Jim is alone.
Fireworks explode outside as people counting down to the new year can be heard. Jim stands at the window watching the fireworks explode outside as he drinks from a bottle of wine.
“Happy new year”
January 18th
Jim wakes from sleeping and goes to make a coffee downstairs, pulls out two mugs before placing one back. Turns on the kettle and add VFX illumination to the kettle and steam rising when it boils.
Sarah left some things behind and Jim has messaged Sarah, she calls and tells Jim “It’s fine, I’ll send Tom to get it on Friday”
“Who is Tom?”
“Ummm, a friend from work, got to go” before hanging up.
Steam rises furiously until the kettle clicks off.
February 13th
Reminder pops up on phone “Boarding Pass X2 – Paris, France are ready for download”, Jim lies defeated on the bed and pulls out a cigarette looking dishevelled. The place is a mess. “What the hell am I doing?”. Montage of cleaning the house and shaving to get his act together.

March – Various dates
Shot in various locations show progressively intimate messages with a new woman “Beth”
March 23rd
Jim gets in from work and his phone pings once more an icon that suggests a dating app shows a message trail that is positive, and a date is set for the following weekend.
He sits content and flicks on the tv. His show is interrupted and a special news announcement is made. Boris Johnson announces the first lockdown and shatters all plans he has.
