Heroes Journey Checklist
Call to Adventure – Grith is bored of the small village and wishes to know what is beyond its boundaries. He is warned of monsters who would wish to do him harm.
Supernatural Aid – A conversation with his grandfather reveals his mother was an adventurer prior to having Grith.
Threshold Guardian – Griths Father is opposed to him leaving the village and will only agree to let him leave if he spends one year training and reforging his mother’s armour.
CHALLENGES
Mentor / Helper – Griths family help him to learn how to fight, forge and survive the wilderness.
He leaves for the mountains and encounters several threats on his way to the apex of the mountain to see the family friend (and avoid a dragon).
REVELATION
The mother befriended the dragon years ago who has since grown weary and recognises Grith due to his distinctive armour.
TRANSFORMATION
He learns more about his mother and what she hoped to accomplish prior to living a simple life.
ATONEMENT
He apologises for entering the dragon’s home with the intention of killing him and realises not all “monsters” are bad.
RETURN
He goes home content with the knowledge he has a lot to live up to and now has a potentially powerful friend high in the mountains.
