Deacon and I decided we did not need to approach this project with either one of us serving as leader. We both have individual strengths and weaknesses along with specific toolsets that our chosen degree paths have offered us. As Deacon is a games design student, he understands the toolkits and design environment that I have no familiarity with, therefore it would be unsuitable for me to approach this side of the design process due to my lack of experience. We supported one another with suggestions and ideas for what the other party could try and create while understanding the potential limitations. I felt confident in his abilities to deliver on the gameplay and mechanics side of development.
Unfortunately, during this module, I developed Glandular Fever which left me unable to attend lectures and participate in this group project for a significant period of time. This meant we would need to work more independently from one another, so our final submissions in essence could be substantially different to what the other party originally envisioned. I remained in contact with Deacon but due to the significant time separated and my lack of contributions in the initial submission period, I can’t in good conscience say the whole of this module was completed as a team.
However, as my submission date was postponed, I have since asked Deacon through Discord to take a look at my work in progress and provide any input to try and make the most of the intended outcomes of this module. I feel that we have achieved something to be proud of considering the initial limitations posed by team size and then my unforeseen illness. I feel that we worked well together and were able to support one another with ideas and sought suggestions for inspiration from one another.
