This application is designed to stream audio narratives to the audience. The main function that demonstrates this concept is the time bar. When using real time metrics, it is possible to track the length of either the chapter, act or the whole piece.
The time bar conforms to the colour of the genre it is assigned and gradually replaces the white of the bar until it reaches the end. The application would also adapt as the user progresses through individual narratives in the act and chapter screens by displaying the opposite color to the genre designation with the opposite colour from the colour wheel. In this example, we can see that the listener has heard both Acts one and two and these have changed in the chapter selection menu.

This approach provides a visual stimulus to demonstrate how far the audience has come and to allow for them to easily find their place if they choose to change books within the app. This process is described in User Experience Design as “Designers can incorporate reminders of what is at stake. Progress bars, leader boards, rewards and even appropriate imagery can all reinforce motivated behaviour” (Allanwood, G. & Beare, P, 2019).
