I attempted to create a Gorilla using the Zsphere tool. I decided a Gorilla would be a good animal to try and base and learn this tool with due to the large and blocky nature of their evolution.

I made a couple of mistakes while modelling this as I accidentally turned off the X symmetry tool at times, which made some of the proportions a little off that needed to be rectified down the line later on by manually adjusting each point on the model.
I think the basic shape I need is roughly in place but it is a little difficult to ensure that the head sits correctly. Prior to trying to model this I didn’t realise that Gorillas don’t seem to have a neck which made collision a little awkward when trying to have the elongated spine lead into the head.
“Their body shape is robust. The belly area is bigger than the chest, and an elongated head up is due to a prominent sagittal crest. Above their eyes, there is a noticeable brow ridge, and they have small ears on both sides of their head. Around the nose, there are a few wrinkles unique to each gorilla, a fact used by scientists to quickly identify them in the wild.” (Gorillas World, 2014)
