For this section of the module I decided to attempt the to combine images of apples and a wine glass. The idea I conceived was to suspend several apples above a wine glass with fishing wire and remove them in Photoshop.

To start this process, I got several clean plate shots of my backdrop, which is the garage wall at my parent’s house to account for wind which would move the ivy against the wall.

Clean plate
After cutting up several apples I threaded them with fishing wire and looped around them so they wouldn’t fall down the wire during the photoshoot. This proved to be a problematic approach in the editing stage as the wire is rather thick and visible.

I framed the shot by placing the glass on a pedestal with the intention of removing it in post, but I liked the aesthetic of the glass against the grey painted wood. I took a number of photos of the apple line at various heights and had the wire spin, so I had a multitude of shots to use. The benefit of shooting in the exact same spot meant that the lighting and shadows would stay consistent making it easier to edit towards the end.
When I imported the photos into Photoshop I overlaid several images on top of one another to choose which had the best aesthetics for the final piece.
To finish the image I spaced out three of the finished photos and changed the values of the Hue and Saturation to give the appearance that when nature is present life becomes more vibrant and colourful.
