The shield went through various designs, initially I wanted to make either a kite shield or a tower shield but when I tried to model these, I couldn’t get the asset to look good. The idea of creating a buckler became more appealing so I spent time looking at a variety of shields in video games such as the following. This Tusk cosemtic in Dota 2 provided a large influence on my final design.

The banding around the edges of the above example helped me to formulate how I wanted my shield to look. However, to fit the copper look that is running throughout the other pieces I designed this Shield to forgo the wooden base texture and go all metal. This shield looks clean as it is newly made and hasn’t had time to accumulate grime or filth on it. I chose to stylise the front of the shield with a four clover leaf shape, as it signifies the holder will have extra luck on the battlefield while wielding it.
