UV Texturing

I decided to UV texture a model I am using in my Design Play Create module. This module has a final project which requires us to create a digital art installation for the Bridlington seaside.

To begin this process I started with a simple crate which was modified into roughly the correct shape.

From here i got a UV map of the object which allowed me to see how the net would unfold.

I then exported this outline to Photoshop to begin drawing on it using the snapshot function in Maya. I did several tests to ensure everything would be presented in the correct manner when the textures would be placed.

This is how the final piece looks in Maya after texturing.

This method is especially useful as I wish to use the centre piece of this area to stand in for a chroma key which was made infinitely easier by using photoshop.
