This logo is based on the prior work I did regarding my previous logo.

In the first week I used the filmmaker Kevin Smith as my inspiration piece and borrowed heavily from one of the aesthetics his movie Clerks offered. In the movie, the chapter titles use a variation of the “American Typewriter” typeface. This works well with my concept as I wish to focus on amateur filmmaking and the majority of film scripts use this typeface.
I decided to choose a phrase which could represent this idea and settled on “Lo Budget, Hi ambition” as I feel it encapsulates the spirit of independent creators.

I began to experiment with colours to see how I could highlight the L in Lo and the H in Hi. Red seemed to fit for the L in Lo as red is typically “the colour of extremes. It’s the colour of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure” (Morton 2020). This feels as is if it a relevant colour for independent creators as it can be a risk to invest in a project that may not return any rewards.
Blue is more open to interpretation as “Most blues convey a sense of trust, loyalty, cleanliness, and understanding. On the other hand, blue evolved as symbol of depression in American culture. “Singing the blues” and feeling blue” are good examples of the complexity of colour symbolism and how it has been evolved in different cultures.” (Morton, 2020). On a more personal note I felt that a blue would contrast well against the harshness of the red and feels more positive as it is attached to the word ambition.

For the final piece I used
Red = Pantone 485C
Blue = Pantone 2727C
Purple = Pantone Violet C
I noticed that if you combined red and blue it would combine to make purple, symbolising a fusion between the two fundamental ideas.
I chose to not use the Omega symbol in this portion of the work as it would throw off the design of the text. However, when making a visual icon using this concept it will be reintroduced at a later point.
