Bridlington Seafront Practical Issues
The installation for Bridlington Seafront would be created for the Esplanade area. In this section we had to examine as many potential concerns for the area and the constraints these issues could present.
Weather
First and foremost, harsh weather conditions can cause several issues for any form of installation. The installation would require weather proofing measures to ensure any components would be well protected against rain and wind as the primary concern here would be electrical failure. There are further issues that could be created by rain such as if any projectors were in use, the lenses would need to be covered so the image would not be distorted.
Viewing area
This area would need to be modified to ensure there are no surfaces that would be slippery when wet.
Vandalism
By creating an installation in a public space, it presents itself as a target towards people who seek to ruin the enjoyment of others. The installation would need to be durable and have some form of security for the high value components that would be in use to prevent improper usage and destruction.
Spacing
As a high foot traffic area, it is important to allow for the movement of members of public in the space and be as unobtrusive as possible for those who have no intention of interacting with the installation. It is also important to also take into consideration pre existing business in the area as to not restrict access for them.
Accessibility
The installation would need to be accessible to as wide a scope as possible and consideration should be taken for those with mobility concerns such as wheelchairs and walking aids.
Emergency services
In the unfortunate event of an emergency such as a fire or a medical issue, it is a high priority to ensure that first responders can attend to the issue as fast as possible.
