Hi there, I’m Lee and I aspire to help create innovative digital works.
I am an animator, sound engineer and general creative. This portfolio demonstrates my versatility across a range of applications and shows how I could join your team to help create exciting and new projects.
Ultimately, my aim is to gain a Master’s Degree in advertising and design to develop my skills further and enter the world, hopefully leaving a mark of my own.
This commission for The Stove Box required an animation to explain how their new product, the “False Chimney Breast”, could be installed.
Using the client’s brief, I converted the technical drawings into a functional 3d model and wrote a step-by-step guide to use as an outline for installation purposes.
This project required a high level of accuracy for the digital recreation and through several meetings and iterations of the animation we were able to deliver a succinct demonstration of the product’s versatility.
The images below are the reference materials I used for the animation.
This piece is a short virtual reality experience that is currently still in development and as such is missing several key components. The quality of the render is rather low at this stage as the complexity of the scene requires a higher level of processing power than my computer can render to the required level. This is a proof of concept and should not be viewed as a finalised project, there is excessive noise and grain in the scene, this is due to rendering at 3xAA and 1080p. The camera usage emulates the user experience of been led by the audio and lighting queues in the scene.
In this scene I built and textured most of the assets with a keen attention to detail from the source material (Evil Dead 2). Lighting and sound triggers are planted to guide the audience towards key areas where I have used a variety of techniques such as Mash networks, keyframe animation and lighting variables.
Using Audition, I have layered and edited the audio to create a rich soundscape for the user to be immersed in. When the final render is complete this will use first order ambisonics for a true VR experience.
Sandwich – Collaborative short film
Sandwich was a short film created during enhancement week by a team of roughly eight. The week was designed to enable students from multiple disciplines to come together and create something new.
We decided on this short film about a janitor going about his daily business, passing by a library full of strangers with small glimpses into their lives.
I starred as the main character and helped behind the scenes by using my knowledge of shot composition and writing to get an outline together alongside securing locations for filming.
Facial animation and rigging
This project was the final submission for my animation module. I created a video of myself to use as a reference point and gain some understanding of how I wanted to convey the over exaggerated motions. This served as a strong template to work from but I deviated from this somewhat as the facial rigging tools allowed for a “subtle” way of conveying the impotent rage the character is facing.
Coheed and Cambria - Audiobook (Fan adaption)
In my spare time I record an audio version of the narrative from Coheed and Cambria’s series The Afterman. This project has helped me gain a greater understanding of audio mixing and balancing along with creating custom animations to serve as the visual component.
